Due to personal reasons, 🇬🇧 Angus ‘Mello‘ Russell unfortunately had to step down from Viperio 86’s starting five, following a unexpected move to the United States. To fill the final spot on our roster, we’re delighted to announce that 🇬🇧 Layton ‘Layton‘ Goldring, who was signed as a substribute player for Viperio 86 this summer, will be called up to our starting five for the UKI Nationals Premier Division Summer Finals.

Viperio 86’s first series of the Finals, versus Cowana, will be Layton’s debut appearance in the Division. When asked about how excited he was to get the opportunity, Layton commented:

“Of course, I’m definitely excited to be able to play. After being out of a main roster for some time, I hope I can swiftly come back and play to the level i’m expected to.”

Layton has been a long time member of the teams core, back when the roster previously competed in multiple UKIN Division Two seasons under “Team 86”. When asked about how he was preparing for his UKIN Premier debut, Layton stated:

“I’ve been slowly easing my way back into playing the game to the same capacity as the other players. I’m continuously getting better at playing with the team instead of always rushing myself. Mello is and will always be an insane player, and I hope I can fill his shoes.”

Viperio 86 Team Manager Jase was also happy to comment on Layton’s call up to the starting five:

“I’m happy to see Layton back in action as in his peak he was one of the best up and coming talents from the UK. He’s got some work to do to be ready for finals, but with his drive, I’m confident he’ll be able to deliver.”

You can watch Layton and the rest of the Vipeiro 86 squad in action on August 28th at 3:15pm (BST), versus European League side Cowana Gaming.
