With Viperio Academy now a Public project, the club wants to provide regular updates on the progress of the team up to finalising the roster. This article highlights recent changes, demand for spaces, and details on how you can get involved.
In August, Viperio announced its intention to field a second Counter-Strike roster of young, rookie talent. The team, branded Viperio Academy, is an ongoing project that hopes to give rising starts an opportunity to work closely with our main roster and coaching staff, as well as act as substitutes to our starting line-up.
Just over a month into the project, Viperio are still looking to sign players interested in joining the team. At current, over 80+ talented players have registered interest to play for Viperio Academy. We’re delighted to see this many players take interest in joining our organisation, and will respond to all who have applied as we trial new players.
We have some changes to the team going into the rest of September:
Adam Colwell to step down due to personal circumstances
Irish Counter-Strike player Adam “AdamJC” Colwell was announced as In-Game Leader (IGL) for Viperio Academy back on August 6th. Due to a change in personal circumstances which would make regular play difficult, Adam has stepped down from this position to take a break from competitive play. While Adam’s time with Viperio was short, we are grateful for his contributions working with Head Coach Daniel “Papp” Hart and Liam “M1n1maL” and for having faith in our project.
Viperio looking for an Academy Team Manager
To avoid overloading Viperio Counter-Strike Head Coach Daniel Hart (Papp) with the challenge of co-ordinating two teams, we’re looking to onboard a dedicated Academy Team Manager. This will be a voluntary position ideal for a university student looking to enter the world of esports coaching & management.
The Team Manager for Viperio Academy will work closely with Papp, who is hoping to promote talent from this second squad into our main line-up when appropriate.
We encourage those interested to fill our the registration form or reach out via email contact@viperio.com
Roster Update
At current, Liam “M1n1maL” remains as the only confirmed player signed to Viperio Academy. Viperio welcomed Liam at the start of August following his departure from K10 FWRD, the academy team of former UK organisation K10.
Our desire is to field a UK core academy team, however we have seen significant interest from players from mainland Europe. With this demand, we may alter these plans if it allows us to put together a more promising roster.
We’re still in talks with some prospects and continuing to encourage people, regardless of residency or nationality, to register their interest for a trial.
