Celebrating 13 years

Celebrating 13 years

Viperio celebrates its 13th anniversary, completing another year of operations as the North East of England's leading esports club.

Today (2nd February 2026) marks 13 years of the Viperio brand operating in esports & gaming. With only a small handful of active clubs passing this milestone, Viperio cements itself as one of the oldest continuously operating esports organisations in Europe.

2025 saw Viperio regularly competing in the highly competitive, tier two/three online Counter-Strike leagues with a European core, in events like United21 and Exort. Viperio also continued to cement itself as a British esports brand, with our all British academy line-up competing at national LAN events like EPIC.LAN.

Viperio Founder & Managing Director commented:

"Another anniversary sees Viperio continue to cement its position as one of the oldest and most authentic esports clubs still operating in the United Kingdom. I'm grateful to all who continue to support us and to those that have helped craft 13 years of our history."

Our origin

Our origin

Our origin

13 years ago, Viperio was founded in a North Shields bedroom as a group of friends wanting to build something within the emerging world of esports and gaming.

Viperio was established in February 2013, as a gaming clan primarily playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. As Call of Duty's esports scene further developed during the transition from Black Ops 2 to Call of Duty: Ghosts, Viperio signed it's first official roster to compete in the ever growing number of online and offline (LAN) tournaments the title had to offer.

Over the decade that followed, Viperio signed rosters in various titles to progress up the competitive hierarchy. The Viperio brand expanded into other leading esports circuits, including Counter-Strike, the game Viperio is best known for in recent history, as well as games such as Halo, League of Legends, and Rainbow Six Siege.

We're setting ourselves up for Viperio to make an impact in 2026

The last year was not an easy one, especially after releasing our European Counter-Strike roster in June 2025. Many noteworthy esports brands closed down in 2025, citing financial and competition linked challenges as reasons for winding down operations.

Despite headwinds and an ever more competitive esports landscape, Viperio is making changes to ensure long term success both in and out of the server. With new business divisions alongside our esports activity, Viperio is shaping up to be not just an esports club, but a business redefining the model of esports teams.
