Viperio Academy players to explore options
Viperio, the North East of England’s leading esports club since 2013, today confirms that the Viperio Academy CS2 roster will be allowed to explore opportunities as individual free agents.
As latest season of ESEA and UKIC come to a close, Viperio are allowing all Academy players to explore options as individual free agents.
This decision comes as Viperio continues to focus on its long-term vision of nurturing UK talent, ensuring that players within its ecosystem have the best possible opportunities to advance their careers. Recent results saw Viperio Academy show strong performances in European leagues and offline events, but underperformance in the national leagues. Viperio recognises that some players from the Academy may be ready for opportunities at higher levels of competition. By enabling players to speak with other organisations, Viperio hopes to support their development without placing any unnecessary barriers in their path.
Viperio would like to extend its sincere gratitude to every player who has represented Viperio Academy during this iteration of the team.
Competing at two UK LAN events, EPICLAN 43 and EPICLAN 44, the team secured commendable 7th-8th place finishes at both events. Furthermore, their recent promotion from ESEA Intermediate to ESEA Main is a testament to their hard work and continued development. Viperio would like to thank NCX, mgmt, Shane, M1n1maL, fett1s, Lake, Zuuphler, TJM and Pyrex for their dedication to the team and the organisation during their time under the Viperio banner.
The Viperio Academy project remains an important part of Viperio's activity in Counter-Strike.
As a UK-based club with an all European first team, Viperio Academy maintains a connection to the local UK Counter-Strike ecosystem. Viperio Academy serves as the organisations platform to identify rising UK talent with the aspirations to promote them into our Main team. This was seen with young prospect @M1n1maLcs playing multiple fixtures for Viperio's main team during roster shuffles.
Moving forward, Viperio is determined to rebuild the Academy team with an all-UK roster, continuing to offer British players the chance to represent a historic brand and step up to higher levels of competition. Viperio remains open to working with any players from the current team who wish to remain a part of the rebuild. At the same time, the organisation is now actively encouraging young UK talent interested in joining Viperio Academy to reach out and express their interest.
Viperio remains committed to fostering UK Counter-Strike talent and looks forward to building another competitive roster for the future. Reflecting on the team’s achievements, Chris Sword, Founder of Viperio, commented:
“I’m proud of what these players have achieved during their time with Viperio Academy. With playoff appearances at back-to-back EPICLANs, to securing promotion in ESEA, they’ve consistently represented the organisation with professionalism and passion. I wish them all nothing but success on their new teams.” - Christopher Sword (@chrisrsword), Founder of Viperio
