Reflection

Reflection

After 18 months, Viperio will be parting ways with its current European Counter-Strike 2 roster.

Moving away from Viperio's previous full UKI CS2 roster, in late 2023 Viperio decided to sign the European Counter-Strike line-up 🇪🇺ex-Raptors (ReegaN, MMS, Zodi, mAnGo, pandi7o, Papp). The multi-national roster immediately competed in various continental competitions, most notably ESL Pro League Season 19: European Conference in January 2024, ultimately finishing 3rd-4th.

Looking to capitalise on a wider talent pool for CCT, EU Pro League and United 21 events, Coach papp looked for rising stars across the Nordics, Balkans & Baltic states. The roster evolved over time with various signings, including players like Skrimo, upE, AwaykeN, shynne and Junyme, and multiple transfers to teams like Alliance and Exo.

The roster entered into over 40 competitions between early 2024 and mid-2025, making them one of the most competitively active line-ups to represent Viperio.

Reasons for Change

Reasons for Change

Reasons for Change

Despite promising competitive results in the first half of 2025, changes to the CS2 ecosystem restricted opportunity (both competitively and commercially), resulting in Viperio needing to reconsider the allocation of time and resources.

The decision to part ways is not due to competitive performance, but factors linked to the broader Counter-Strike ecosystem that have directly impacted the commercial viability of tier-two and tier-three Counter-Strike, resulting in no new agreement being signed between the organisation and the players.

Viperio's Valve Regional Standings and HLTV rankings of recent floated between 150-250, limiting the opportunity to progress to higher levels of competition. Restrictions around qualification and tournament invites has made it challenging for smaller esports clubs like Viperio to reach past highs of RMRs and ESL Pro League Conference.
